    Freshly painted bumper..

    Hi all!

I just picked up a 2009 Audi A4 Cabriolet, in Ibis White. There was quite a big mark on the front bumper, so the dealer repainted it for me.

Just a quick question, how long should I wait before detailing the car/bumper. I know there is a waiting period, I'm just not sure how long.

Typical waiting time is 30-90 days. Call the dealer and ask them to be sure.

Jeez, that stinks, haha. Gonna be hard not to be able to clean it up, but alright. Thanks for the quick answer!

You can certainly wash the car. Just dont use paint cleaners or wax/sealants and ensure the car wash soap does not have wax. Quick detailers should also fit in this category as the do have some ingredients for protection although diluted. Just my opinion.

If the bumper was 'baked' as most good shops do nowadays, some say there is no waiting period. I would give it a month to be safe.

You can clay, clean and polish it, just not wax.

Yeah, I'll just leave it untouched for the time being, I'm always extra careful, lol. Just hoping no more chips appear over this time. I'm getting a clear bra put on it as well to avoid the reason it was repainted in the first place, lol.

Definitely be careful. You're lucky its white because it won't be near as hard to scratch, or rather see the scratch. Also try to keep any silicone based tire dressing away until it has cured. Though this is more for a shop you still don't want those chemicals to mix with the new paint.
