Is this what happens when you wash foam pads in the washing machine

I washed the foam pads with a little laundry soap in the washing machine. The burgundy cutting pad dyed the tan And yellow pad almost the same light shade of burgundy! Also washed off alot of the printing on the back. Marked it up with a laundry marker, but i kinda liked not grabbing the wrong pad because of the different colors.

Im really not gonna wash each pad seperate, so is this a fluke or do I have to go back to doing them in the sink. (So easy in the machine)

    Thanks

    John

I just showed my wife, she say the burgundy is burgundy, the tan is tan, and the yellow is mauvey!! I am red green colorblind so maby only the yelly one is stained mauvey! The 9000 and 8000 look the same to me.

I have never used the burgandy cutting pad, but have found the black finishing pad will turn the yellow polishing pad a dark gold color. I wash them apart the 1st time, after that they won't run (at least they don't for me).

Your pads appear to be the older Soft Buff pads that I believe were not intended for machine washing. The newer Meguiars Soft Buff 2.0 pads were designed to be machine washed, and are identified by their raised outer ridge that helps to center the backing plate.

Yeah those pads were not meant for machine washing!

lol the same thing happened to me only I was using the Softbuff 2.0 pads. when I washed my black pad with the yellow pad. My yellow has a little tint of black in it. I'm thinking it was because they were new. Im betting if I washed them once the die would have been out of them. So Now I just use a all purpose cleaner like purple power to clean my pads then I rinse them with the hose and just let dry :-)

Funny about the burgundy pad, I don't use it either. Just got it to see what I was missing. For heavy work I still use my old trusty wool pad. Old habits die hard! Maybe I should start a tread to see who else is a wool fan like me.

My $0.02 worth. Watch what kind of wash machine you use. The non agitator type is the better. If the agitator type is what you intend to use, I suggest that you get one of the mesh clothes bags to put your pads in to wash. I wrapped up some pads at the agitator spindle and tore the pads up. The mesh bag allows the pads to get clean and also protects them.
