Creating and Editing a new post

Not sure if Apple changed Safari, MOL changed or I need to change a setting. Previously when creating a post with images, there were two windows. The upper preview window and the lower editing window. I thought in the lower window you could edit using text.

Now the lower window shows the actual image, just like the upper Preview window. I find this very difficult to edit.

How do I get the text (the typing of an image's location) back as the default for the lower (Your Message) window?

The default view in the text editor box is now "WYSIWYG" (what you see is what you get) mode, which behaves sort of like Microsoft Word, Apple iWork Pages, or Corel Word Perfect in that when you highlight text, change font sizes, or do pretty much anything it displays all formatting just at will be seen when published - hence, what you see is what you get. You can change to "Source" mode by clicking the little A/A icon in the upper left of the editor box. This allows you to compose using source code, not all that different from creating a web page in a simple text editor. Of course, you need to know all the source code to do that in Notepad, but at least here it gives you little icons to click to add your text formatting, etc. When in Source mode that little A/A icon will have a blue background.

When I'm composing a post with a lot of images in it, like from a TNOG or Saturday Class, I'll go into Source mode and drop in one image, then copy/paste that entire image tag with a couple of line breaks between them, then go in and manually change just the file name. That way I'm not constantly going back and forth, grabbing the code for each individual image. Since they're all numbered and in the same gallery, the only that changes is the file name (basically the last three digits of the file name/number) so it's a quick and easy process. I then switch back to WYSIWYG mode and scroll down through the images, adding captions as I go. Works for me, anyway.

That is similar what I had done is the past. Must have pushed that button sometime by mistake. Thanks for giving me the info to return to that technique.
