Meguiar's Quik Tips Video Series - Brake Dust Barrier

Meguiar's Quik Tips Video Series - Hot Rims Brake Dust Barrier

After viewing the video clip you can scroll down for a step by step refresher, complete with still images shot during the filming of the video.

Please keep in mind that this video, and the others in the series, are not designed to be definitive how to guides but rather, as the name implies, Quik Tips that address the most common questions and mistakes associated with each topic.

Keeping your car looking its absolute best brings a great sense of passion and pride!

Your wheels can become covered in brake dust and road grime in no time at all, and no one likes the look of dirty wheels. Removing that brake dust and grime quickly and easily can, in some cases, be messy and difficult.

To solve this challenge, we've introduced Meguiar's Hot Rims Brake Dust Barrier. This spray on barrier provides a protective coating to help make cleaning your wheels quicker and easier. The protective coating created by Hot Rims Brake Dust Barrier lasts several weeks and mutliple car washes. Plus, it's safe on all types of wheels including chrome, painted and even polished aluminum.

Before applying Hot Rims Brake Dust Barrier, clean your wheels thoroughly using the appropriate Meguiar's wheel cleaner.

Since any remaining dirt or water could get trapped underneath the coating, make sure to completely dry your wheels before appyling the product to the wheel.

Holding the can approximately 6" inches away from the wheel, lightly spray the entire wheel to ensure complete and uniform coverage. Be careful not to over saturate as a little of this product goes a long way.

This product dries quickly to the touch. However, if you've applied too much product and there is a run, it is best to wipe it off immediately and re apply. If you wish to remove Hot Rims Brake Dust Barrier after it has dried, it is best to use rubbing alcohol since a typical wheel cleaner will not remove it.

The barrier will be completely cured within 1 hour and we recommend not touching the wheels during this time. That's all there is to it!

Remember, Hot Rims Brake Dust Barrier does not prevent brake dust. But now that your wheels have a protective barrier that lasts for weeks and multiple washings, it will be quicker and easier to keep them looking their absolute best without tough scrubbing!

The next time you have to clean your wheels, just spray on the appropriate wheel cleaner, and then simply rinse with a strong stream of water. No scrubbing, no brushing needed!

Seems promising so far, though only washed the car once. Will be a longer break in-between washing this time, so eager to see how easily stuff washes off. I just used the car soap last time.

Picked up some of this at the parts store along with some All Wheel Cleaner. Really anxious to give them both a try. I do need a better detailing brush though for cleaning all the way through the wheels.

The Daytona Wheel brush is good, if a little pricey.

I really need one, but I'm about to move into an apartment and am not anticipating having much ability to do any major details besides some waterless washes, so we'll see.

Waterless should still work on wheels.. just need a brush or rag or both to work it around, and then a cloth for removing.

Already use the hot rims cleaner, guess I will have to try the barrier now too.
