How to adhere a 7 inch foam pad to a B&D Handy Buffer #9555

Some years ago my wife gave me a B&D Handy buffer. I used to be able to find 7" foam pads with an elastic rim to adhere the pad to the buffer but can no longer find them. This buffer has a solid 3/4" foam backing surface, it does not have a hole for a backing plate. I need either the elastic foam pad or a dual sided adhesive backer. Any thoughts?

This something I did. I had/have a 6" 'buffer', I removed the foam pad (the one that is attached to the buffer). That left just a hard plastic plate. I gently cut the plate down to about 4 inch (took awhile, but it was winter and I had more than enuf time). Found some Velcro that kinda mated up with my LC pads, stuck that to the plate. Instant attachment for my 4" pads.

It worked OK for applying wax and some gentle 'polishing'. To be honest it was a pretty much waste of time. Just as easy to grab the DA.

    This make sense?
