Year 2012 marked Meguiar's entry into waterless and rinseless car wash markets. Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere was my favorite product for cold winter months to keep my vehicle in good shape. Now when temperatures went much above the freezing point it's time to try out the rinseless approach. The biggest benefit of that: total car wash with minimum use of water (one or two water buckets only).
My previous rinseless car wash experience was with products by Optimum (Optimum No Rinse, aka ONR) and Detailer's Pride (DP Rinseless Wash & Gloss). I was pretty excited to try Meguiar's newest product as I was very pleased with waterless version.
Two dark colored metallic paint vehicles were used for testing: Honda Civic and BMW X3. The first one was really dirty: no wash for about 8 weeks and couple inches of seasonal pollen on top of dirt. The second one was driven in super heavy rain for about 40 miles.
Rinseless car wash accessories/ products used in testing:
- D114 Meguiar's Rinse Free Express Wash,
- two 5-gallon water buckets with grid guards (each filled with 4 gallons of water),
- dilution ratio: D114 1.5 oz./ 1 gallon of water,
- Meguiar's Microfiber Wash Mitt,
- Meguiar's Water Magnet Microfiber Drying Towel,
- wheel and tire brushes used after paint wash.
Honda Civic before pics:
D114 forms suds which is little unusual for rinseless soap but it gives a good feeling.
Honda Civic after pics:
The vehicle came out really good. The amount of dirt removed was very intense. If I used a waterless product I would end up with at least a dozen of microfiber towels used. I was very impressed how glossy the paint looked. The dilution ratio, Meguiar's recommends 1-2 oz./ gallon depending on how dirty vehicle is, handled the amount of dirt extremely well.
D114 has very synthetic smell (if anybody cares about scent than Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere will leave car smelling super nice for hours).

D114 proved once again to be a very effective rinseless car soap. The paint was left super clean and very glossy. When using a rinseless method I really recommend a good quality wash media (microfiber or natural wool) and drying towel to avoid inflicting any marks.
My observations:
- good cleaning and super easy drying abilities,
- wash media just glides on paint surface, it's super slick,
- easy dirt removal from wash media, nothing gets trapped,
- leaves paint very glossy (I think we have a market leader in that department),
- super safe on all type of paint, including modern scratch-sensitive clear coats (Honda has very soft clear),
- no soapy residue left behind on glass nor exterior trim.
I definitely recommend this product. Even if a good through wash is needed before serious paint correction session, D114 won't disappoint. For those detailers looking for super glossy finish Meguiar's Rinse Free Express Wash would be absolutely right choice.
