  • Clay, Polish, Glaze, Wax?

    Hello,

I have a 2008 Black Infinity (has some light scratches) and wish for the first time do some detailing....I bought the following:

    Meguiar's Clay
    1Z Polish
    Meguiar's Mirror Glaze 80
    1Z Wax

    Porter Cable DA Polisher
Pads for Polish and Glaze (2 pads different colors but the same material)
Pad for Wax (softer than the above pads)

I'm new and the detail shop sold me the above and told me to put it on in the above order. Wanted to make sure everything is correct before getting started.... Did I only need to buy the Polish or the Glaze or should I be happy that I have both?

    thanks,R

    Re: Clay, Polish, Glaze, Wax?

That order should probably be tweaked just a bit since M80 Speed Glaze contains some diminishing abrasives and it will remove the 1Z Polish you apply before it. This assumes, of course, that the 1Z Polish isn't more aggressive than the M80, but looking at their product line (and I have to admit I'm not terribly familiar with the 1Z line) I don't believe it is more aggressive unless I'm looking at the wrong product.

Otherwise, the pad choices seem appropriate.

Can you clarify for us exactly what 1Z Polish you've got?
