  • G220V2, is it really a defective machine?

Today and finally I pulled the trigger and ordered two G220V2 from UK through ebay seller at a price of $255 each (expensive comparing to the price of G110V2 but I had no choice).

Anyhow, my concern is about the polisher is not functioning properly and I read this from someone posted in this forum. You can refer to the post here http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?52650-Defective-G220-v2-DA-polisher-from-UK

I am really curious to know the truth of this issue, I don't want to be disappointed after a long time waiting for this product availability to buy.

Please someone from Maguiar advice. Regards,

I think his problem is voltage related due to step down transformer.

Nope I'm not using a transformer. The unit is really defective.

Well actually we want to know whether VRJ got a bad copy or there is really manufacturing defects with this machine. We need an official reply from Maguiars.

Last year I purchased Electrolux dishwasher at $1700.00 and had it serviced 3 times in 2 months. Point I am trying to make is anything that's electro-mechanical will have some issues sooner or later. Can it be guranteed that every unit that goes out is perfect in every way? If that was the case they would have to bench test every unit and the costs would be doubled. In my opinion they do a batch test like 1 out of 100. Don't panic till you test your unit and Megs will stand by it.

Just a sample where some of the units are made.

If your asking whether 100% of these tools are 100% perfect, then the answer is obviously no. But the same can be said for anything electrical/mechanical you purchase from anyone. Unfortunately, when you make an online purchase from a seller who is, quite literally, half way around the world and something goes wrong then you've really got a problem. You'll be very hard pressed to find a retailer who will be willing to pay for return shipping over that great a distance, and then there are often the questions of import duties, tariffs, etc that have been paid by the buyer and can never be recouped.

To reinforce what Mark58 said, I have personally purchased a rotary buffer from a very reputable name brand and it died after just several hours use. This a very popular brand name and everyone raves over the brand, but mine died very quickly.

I agree with Mr Stoops but the seller has the responsibility as well to check the unit if it's functioning properly before sending to the buyer to avoid these problems.
