    20ft Tahoe

The owner of this boat wanted a a good clean up before winter so it could be put away . I had pointed out the severe oxidation on the top portions & front but the owner insisted it was just lime & algae build up from the lake. I knew obviously that this was not true but the bottom & hull had plenty of algae buildup as well. I figured the oxidation would not take too long to fix but knew in the back of my mind there was a chance of this turning into a several day job.

I thought about it for a little while, and decided to just do it, hoping to be done in two days. I was sick with the flu really bad for the past two weeks and had just gotten better, and did not line up a whole lot of work so that was a factor too.

The gelcoat took a while to fix, and the interior took a long time to clean as well. There was some tree sap stuck in the ridges on deck too. The owner said he had always left it in the lake the past four years. Which explains these issues. Especially the algae.

The job took three days total. Really didnt make too good of a profit to be honest. But I did the job and its done, cant go back and change that.

Pictures & are not the greatest since I did not plan on posting this.

    Before:

Tarp cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner 4:1.
    Pressure wash entire boat.
Algae cleaned with Starbrite Hull Cleaner.
Tires cleaned with Purple Power 1:1.
Compartments & ladder racks cleaned with 3D Orange Degreaser 10:1.
Foamed/washed with Dawn & Super Soap.

No shot of the boat wash, simply forgot.

    The wash took 3.5 hours.

After that, I got to work compounding the gelcoat. Here is what the top blue strips looked like after washing.

    This is 100% oxidation.

The entire boat was polished with #49 - Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover via PCXP & mf cutting discs.

    Here is a comparison.

The edges took forever to correct by hand, a couple hours alone by hand.

    Dull/Staining:

    After:

    Gelcoat & trailer sealed with Opti-Seal x2
    Tires dressed with #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner.
Wheels polished with Mothers chrome polish.
All metal polished Hot Rims Mag Aluminum Polish.

    Interior:

    Vacumm
All Vinyl & deck scrubbed with Hyper-Wash & All Purpose Cleaner plus hot water.
Tree sap removed with Tarminator & putty knife that was in the ridges on deck.
Plastics cleaned with Quik Interior Detailer.
    Fiberglass polished/waxed with #50 - One Step Cleaner/Wax.
Windshield cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate 10:1.
Deck washed with ONR for final cleaning.

Looks great Nick! I can't even imagine the patience it takes to polish out a boat.

Sorry to hear you had the flu. How are you feeling now?

It takes a long time to do even if you have a good effective system down. The curved edge on the upper blue strip took a couple hours alone since it had to be done by hand.

Havent felt that great in close to a month. Went to the doctor about three weeks ago with symptoms of the flu and felt discomfort while breathing. Got an X-Ray done and turned out I had strep throat & pneumonia. Took off work for two days and was on meds for ten. But now I am starting to feel like I have a headcold now. Its been raining here the past four days and I have been out in the wet & cold air prepping trucks so I guess that doesnt help. If I do not feel better after this weekend I am going back to the doctor.

Thanks Dave. Lately for me its been working a lot to make a little. I have a small loyal customer base but sometimes that just not enough. Been having to charge a little bit less lately. I wish I could command some of the rates I am seeing on here.

The pictures do not do it justice. The hull was covered and barely white.
