  • Winter Beaters and or Winter Prep for your DD. What do you do?

I picked this Tahoe up a couple weeks ago for 2500 bucks. It needed a few things to run/ride better but a pretty solid rig with only minor rust. I just got some new tires/wheels as the stock wheels had clear coat failure and bald tires.

What do you guys do in the winter? Run a beater or prep your car for the elements? I do plan on getting this undercoated/oiled to help pro-long the life of her.

Im thinking two nice even light coats of ultimate liquid wax should be good
and try to wash as much as possible in the winter

I guess that is easy for me to say here in Southern California...

I would use Collinite 845 or 476 on an old beater.....clay 1st though...that's what my DD will be getting later this month

137,780. Runs like a top! The guy that I bought it from had a stack of maint. records and didn't appear to cut any corners.

I would go ahead and thrown two thin coats of Collinite 476 on there. Stuff is bullet proof.

                My favorite winter preparation:
                - good, long wash,
                - Body Solvent or Gold Glass Tar & Bug Remover,
                - claying,
                - pre-wax cleaner/ polish (aggressiveness depends on defects),
                - Ultimate Wax or NxT Tech Wax 2.0,
                - M16 Professional Paste Wax.

I have both waiting at home for me along with 915. I am going to try and do all of my family's cars during my fall break and give them all a coat of 476. On mine I plan on doing a coat of 476 followed by 915.

I will give you the link when I do the review.

Planning on this tomorrow, if weather permits:

                    GC wash, Clay, #66, UW,

Then either #16 or Collinite 476S

Not toally sure yet. Going to have to do a test spot to see which I like better.
