  • Quick question: ultimate quick detailer: CAN or CANNOT applied under direct sunlight?

I watched some training videos from Meguiars, and it said the ultimate quick detailer and wax, both can applied under direct sunlight. But when I look at the directions on the back of the product, I found it says "CANNOT".

Got pretty confused now. so any one actually know whether this can be applied under the sunlight?

    thanks a lot!

I have applied both UQW and UQD in direct sunny weather without issues, just make sure to wipe off and not let the product dry.
Ideally you want to use in the shade and make sure the panels are cool to the touch.

Ultimate Quik Wax and Ultimate Quik Detailer can be applied in direct sun light. It makes sense because you're wiping off the product right away and not letting it sit and dry to a haze like traditional waxes. As for Ultimate Wax or any wax for that matter, I don't think it's good to use it under direct sunlight or on a hot surface. Meguiar's always recommends to use their compounds/polishes/waxes in the shade and a cool surface.

Well, direct sunlight in and of itself isn't really the issue; it's the surface temperature that really matters. Ultimate Quik Wax is better suited to fairly high surface temperatures than Ultimate Quik Detailer is, and we really recommend avoiding hot surfaces if at all possible. But where some products tend to be a complete disaster on very warm surfaces, these two can still perform nicely in this situation. Still, if you put your hand on the surface and you jump back in paint, don't spray anything on to it.

I used uqw after my last wash. About 1/3 of the car was in sunlight w surfaces cool to the touch. Wiped on and wiped off w mf cloth and worked great on my black car.

I applied UQW to my car when the ambient temperature was in the high 90s, and the car was in the sun. I assume that the car was at least 100 degrees. Would this be detrimental to the longevity of the wax? After nine days, water no longer beads as it once did.

My thoughts on it is: yes technically you can however you will get optimal results if you apply it in a cool, dark, environment (i.e. your garage). The great thing about meguiars products is that you can apply in the sunlight and still get decent results, although diminished when compared to the preferred optimal application methods.

If you're in a pinch or have no other options then by all means apply it in the sunlight however if you have the option or ability to do it in your garage then why not to get tbe best possible results!
