  • Looong 'Scratch' from Cedar tree branch

Zigged when I should have Zagged backing down my drive in my wife's XC90 and scraped against the branch of a Cedar tree

It's about a 1/4 inch wide (high?) almost the full length of the car. Should mention its a light silver with a green tinge.

I tried UC by hand and I managed to reduce the appearance significantly, but in the right light it's still visible.

So I'm wanting to take the G110v2 and give it a try.

I've seen the videos but most are removing a swirl or 'small' scratch.

Looking for suggestions on how to attack something like I described.

Would I just use a back and forth motion over the length of the scratch one section at a time; or an up and down motion, or ...?

Depends on how deep is the scratch. The general rule is if you can feel the scratch by your finger nail, it is too deep to be fixed.

UC will certainly improve the appearance but unfortunately, it will not remove the scratch.

Its more like a scrape. Can't feel it.

Any ideas how to improve the results?

Since it is more like a scrape, use some Ultimate Compound on a foam applicator pad. Use some elbow grease. If it does not look as good as you want after that, then follow up with some Ultimate Polish to clean it up, then wax.

Tried elbow grease. You don't think the D/A would would result in better results?

Sorry, didn't realize you had a D/A. If you have one, then yes use that with either UC. If you have the MF system, it should take care of that fairly quickly. If you could post a pic it would help.

Yes, if you have a DA, definitely use it with UC.

Don't forget to apply wax afterward.
