BlueMagic Headlight Lens Sealer?

Hi. Since it doesn't appear that Meguiar's has a lens "sealer" product I have looked in to others that are out there. Has anyone tried BlueMagic Headlight Lens Sealer? It's to be applied after your lenses are restored or to new lenses. I've heard of some people using clear coat in a spray can, but I am looking for other advice. My situation... After restoring my headlights twice and seeing that the results don't last very long even with regular cleaning and coats of wax I have decided to get some aftermarket replacement lights. These are the replacements I am getting for a 2001 Toyota Camry that's in excellent shape...

I was going to apply the BlueMagic Headlight Lens Sealer to the new lights before installing them. Is this a waste? A baloney product? Are there any "sealer" products that are a sure bet? Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you very much!

I cannot say that I have tried the BlueMagic Headlight Lens Sealer; however the MSDS tells all about its molecular makeup. One of the main ingredients is polydimethylsiloxane the other Hydrotreated Light Distillate. In layman's terms the first product is a clear silicone, the other is mineral turpentine. The mineral turpentine is a thinner and my guess would be so that it can thin the polymers down. Sounds to me like an over hyped and overpriced bottle of junk... Clear plastic lens need protection from UV rays, the gaskets nee to be strong to prevent condensation and fog forming. I have been using paint sealants such as the Meg's synthetic sealant 2.0 for this purpose. It seems to prevent the yellowing from UV rays, and keeps the lens clear. The other cause it seems for repeat problems with lens (JMO) is not properly removing the defects to begin with. Try a reputable paint sealant first, that way you can also use it to protect your finish as well, and save yourself a wasted product.

For 2012 we are releasing as a stand alone product the Headlight Protectant that is part of our HD Headlight Restoration Kit. Excellent UV protection in an inexpensive, very easy to use product. Until it's available, however, you'll do well to use NXT 2.0 or even Ultimate Wax on your headlights.

I don't want to detract from Meg's since I haven't tried it yet but I have been using the blue magic stuff with great success on restored lenses. Had some yellowing lenses on a '02 Grand Prix which got a full buff and polish and lasted over a year without and return of hazing or yellowing with maybe 2 treatments from the blue magic headlight sealer. I have used it on some newer lenses as PM, and they have held up well but I don't know if its because of the sealer or not. Interesting to note would be that using the blue magic on sunglass lenses does seem to improve their scratch resistance significantly.
