    Zaino vs. Meguiar's

I haven't participated in any car enthusiast forums for close to 10 years now, but back in the day I was on CamaroZ28.com all the time. A lot of the guys on there were pretty passionate about Zaino products. Does anyone here have any experience with Zaino? How does Zaino compare to Meguiar's? Does Zaino promote a different philosophy than Meguiar's 5-step paint care system? Does Zaino fill a niche that Meguiar's doesn't fill?

    Thoughts? Opinions?

I've used both and did a blind testing with them. None of the 5 participants could tell whether NXT2.0 or Zaino was used. I'd say that they both look identical. Beware those who claim otherwise. When done blind, the truth is told.

With Zaino stuff, you have to be an alchemist, and have a secret decoder ring.

Ain't that the truth. Not counting the time involved for the process. NXT 2.0 has provided me with the best results and it's so easy on/off.

Once I find something I like, I stick to it. Meg's products work for me and the majority of what I use is easy to find locally. Nxt lasts me 3 months easily on my non garaged out in the elements car. If nxt doesn't do it then #16 will. I'd like to try some of the other stuff that's out there when I have the money to but in the end I'll be returning to my ole faithfuls!

People have their views, opinions, based on their own experience with a particular product (in this case zaino) or maybe it could simply be psychological but it's a bit inappropriate to say that. They use the stuff themselves, they like it maybe because they obviously experienced something in it that other brands hasn't delivered in there point of view. You can try it zaino just to get a feel of it, its obviously durable too so even if you pay quite a lot for it, it should be worth the investment. Is the shine gonna be better than meguiars? Hard to say. The shine may be different vs. Meguiars NXT or ultimate wax, it may be noticeable, but the overall shine and beauty of your car after a "session" with zaino or megs is gonna be virtually the same. Depth vs. Brightness, balanced gloss/depth, hard mirror like gloss vs. deep wet look, etc.

I've compared the shine of NXT2 and carlack 68 (klasse) twins. I say the carlack wins the mirror like gloss and reflectivity, its absolutely brilliant in gloss. NXT 2 counters with a bit more depth, its shine is almost candy like. Carlack(klasse) is a lot more finicky to use, you apply the sealant just a bit to thick, it becomes very hard to remove.
The philosophy is fundamentally the same, the only difference is basically the products used for the said paint care system.

    Re: Zaino vs. Meguiar's

Another problem is that people try something, like it, and then stop trying anything new. People are afraid to experiment. Ever wonder why all McDonalds food tastes the same everywhere? Cuz people trust that the McDoanalds food in Peking tastes just like the McDonalds on their own street corner. I think most serious detailers like to keep up with the times and try out new products, even if they like what they're currently using ("The grass is alway greener..." syndrome). Frankly, the Zaino process is outdated, and we can achieve the same or better looks for less $$$$, less effort and less complexity.

I thought NXT 2.0 was awesome until I tried BFWD.

    Re: Zaino vs. Meguiar's

Zaino users tend to be incredibly passionate about those products, so Zaino is obviously doing something very right. But we're confident that you can achieve equal, if not better, results using Meguiar's products, and probably for a whole lot less money in the process. It wasn't until pretty recently that Zaino introduced products designed to actually remove below surface defects, but we've been doing that since 1901. Our products have been used in auto factories, body shops, and by professional detailers for decades and we're able to take a lot of the technology from our professional line and port it down to a more user friendly consumer product.

On a completely personal note, I don't really understand comments about Zaino being so difficult to use. Yes, you need to add a couple drops of hardener to some of their products and then apply, but that isn't really all that difficult to do.

    Re: Zaino vs. Meguiar's

Zaino and meguiars are good, reliable, trusted car care brands. Zaino obviously gives a great shine, but one should take a look at megs consumer line product catalog and see the (very, very shiny) cars used in the catalogs... the black corvette and 350z i think it was.. With the right tools or "ingredients" anyone can achieve incredible results using meguiars.
