    Question Questions about Saturday Classes

    Hello,

I am a new member and very interested in learning about car detailing. I was looking into the August 20 Saturday class, but if it is possible to know what is taught in this class. Reason for asking is because If i decide to attend I will be making the trip out from Chicago and would love to attend it.

Thank you, what a great forum!!

    Re: Questions about Saturday Classes

Daniel, I want you to think long and hard about this decision, especially if you are married. I went to the class and since I've come back my wife knows all about swirls and defects. She points them out on other cars as we drive by and oh heaven forbid her car ever gets one. She now hand washes, dries, spray waxes and uses Ultimate Quik Detailer and I was the one that went to the class!! My fear is with the new dual action microfiber correction system, I'll have to get her her own buffer!

The instructor, Michael Stoops, will stop by our discussion in a day or so and try to fill your head with ideas that he can in a day teach you about Meguiar's products, concerned car care in general and even provide you with tools and products to perform your own hands-on work that afternoon of class. Be careful if you bring a rental car that is in bad shape, he'll even make you work on it for the experience!!

As far as this class goes, skip it. Too many unintended consequences!!

(Daniel, if you can't tell the above comments are strong on sarcasm. Mr. Stoops is an enthusiastic instructor and a virtual fountain of knowledge. Go to the class, you won't regret it. A ride up and down the Pacific Coast Highway isn't too bad either.)

    Re: Questions about Saturday Classes

Dan, if you don't mind ending up just a bit detailing obsessed like our friend David here is, come on down! Honestly, we sometimes think we created a bit of monster in David as he's rapidly pushed his skills further and further with each detailing project he's tackled. That his wife is now equally obsessive about this is entirely his fault, not ours. We take no responsibility there.

Basically what we cover is the 5 Step Paint Care Cycle quite in depth. We talk about what's really going on with your paint, how to diagnose various issues, and then how to select the right products to address those issues and how to use them correctly. We'll dispel a few myths along the way, clear up a bunch of confusion, and get your mind thinking about what you're doing and how that impacts the outcome of your detailing process.

We'll show you how to use the products correctly, whether working by hand or with a DA, and we'll even get that DA in your hands and let you get a feel for polishing paint with it.
