Does being 100% synthetic automatically make it a sealant?

Generally a synthetic is referred to as a sealant, and carnauba products as wax. Both technically "seal" as they are protectants. There are also blends.

Even though a 100% synthetic technically does not include "wax", Meguiar's calls it a wax because the connotation of the word "wax" is more accepted and understood by the general public than the actual definition.

Thanks for the replys. How does UW compare to something like Rejex that calims to be a sealant?

If the car paint has been prepared (as in wash, clay, swirls totally removed, paint has been cleaned, polished/glazed) real well, the difference is almost none at best. While a coat of wax will add shine, depth, and beauty to the car, complete prep work is what will give you the amazing shine you seek. Then the wax will protect/seal in that shine and add even more shine. Durability? Maybe Rejex has an edge or maybe UW, but in my experience with NXT2.0, carlack 68 or collinite 845/476s i've learned that it's not just the wax durability that makes it last, but also how you maintain it. That said, the carlack 68 twins and collinites are almost equal in terms of durability, the NXT 2.0 trails by a small margin. The NXT is much easier to use though.

The shine of those 3 products? the most mirror like is the carlack68, but on certain light angles the NXT has an edge, believe it or not. There will be different characteristics between different waxes, but that doesn't make one better than the other. You can buy yourself REJEX and compare it to Ultimate wax, or you can just enjoy using the ultimate wax!
