Look Deeply into the BMW Mirror

After offering a friend my assistance in detailing his wife’s former car, an Orient Blue 1995 BMW E34 540i I also shot a few photos once I was finished with the paint. I’m sharing these photos here since so many of you seemed to appreciate the E34 M5 detailing photos shared a few weeks back.

This cars paint was actually in great condition prior to my starting with it so these results were achieved much easier than they were with another friends Black E34 M5 as shown in the prior post with photos.

The process used here was quite simple and straightforward once the car was first washed using Gold Class car wash. Once washed as ScratchX was used first on a couple of scratches in the clear coat and then I proceeded to thoroughly buff the entire car using the G100 and M07 Show Car Glaze. All exterior black trim received a light coating of the Gold Class equivalent of M40 since that’s what Kevin had already picked up for the project. Once completed the entire car was wiped down (including outside of windows) using Final Inspection and several Micro Fibre towels to remove the minimal residue left behind after the buffing process.

We had already cleaned the motor and under-hood area with All Purpose Cleaner prior to tackling the exterior and then sprayed on a thorough coat of M40 to rejuvenate all of the plastic and rubber trim, etc. The same process was used on the wheel wells as well yielding a nice clean and black finish surrounding all four wheels/tires. This was also done prior to tackling the buffing/polishing project and just after washing the exterior of the car. We opted to not use a wax or other form of paint protection since this car will now be put on the market since a replacement has already been purchased.

The results obviously speak for themselves. Enjoy!!!

This was all achieved with the help of Kevin the owner of the car for his following me around the car with the second G100 with an Ultimate Bonnet covering the foam polishing pad. Wax-on, wax-off. Well in a sense anyway, as it was obviously M07 and not wax in all reality. Another friend and fellow E34 M5 owner Andrei helped out by thoroughly masking off all of the trim edges, etc. to protect them from being exposed to the M07 or even worse any damage caused thereby. Without the group efforts here this project would have taken considerably longer. A big thanks to each of them for their lending a hand in knocking out yet another E34 detailing project amongst the local E34 M5 owners group. A job well done even if I do say so myself. ;-)

    Regards,

    Ken Little

Amazing reflections. That trunk really looked like a mirror...one that you'd find in the carnival's funhouse, but still!

    Amazing job!

Looking good. What was your wax of choice on this E34?

Hey, but we'll see ya out here on the 19th. It finally stopped raining and has been in the high 70's the past couple of days. Just don't bring the awful weather that you're having out there here.
