Is Synthetic Sealant still the best top coat?

In terms of shine and durability? I see they changed the formula recently and the product is more uniform coming out of the bottle. Previously you might have a teaspoon of water pour out first, now is nice and consistent.

Ultimate Wax is Meguiars longest lasting, most durable and best protecting sealant.

However, Synthetic Sealant 2.0 is still a very good sealant. It's really your preference.

I'm not answering for Shawn, but doing M21 and UW together is like two coats of each. Very similar products.

Which would you put on the bottom? (I would use the UW on the bottom thinking I would want the longevity bonded to the paint)

    Don't forget your 8 - 12 hour cure time.

I have done UW followed by M26 and today I am thinking of doing a Gold Class over a M21 I did yesterday just to use up some older Gold Class that is sitting around.

Not really sure my eyes could tell the difference between any of them.

So what's the difference between the two? Aren’t they the same product just different marketing? One professional the other consumer. They are both synthetics. I doubt they would have totally different formulas for two markets. Anybody from Meguiar’s have a comment?

I'm not from Meguiar's and I don't think those folks ever sleep, but sometimes I think they are resting their eyes.....

Here is something from Mr. Stoops at the introduction of Ultimate Wax:
    Product Attributes

    • Our longest lasting protection with amplified reflectivity
    • For maximum protection, durability, depth of color & reflectivity
    • Meguiar’s® Thin Film technology makes application and wipe-off effortless, even in full sun!
    • Meguiar’s® proprietary Hydrophobic Polymer Technology™ reduces surface tension so water beads & rolls right off!
    • New synthetic polymers crosslink to form a protective barrier that accurately reflects & amplifies light for incredible depth & mirror-like shine
    • Will not turn trim white
    • Includes applicator pad and microfiber towel
    From ADS regarding M21:
Shake Well. For best results, apply to a clean, cool surface. If finish is neglected, pre-clean with Meguiar’s Detailing Clay. Apply small amount of product onto applicator or foam buffing pad and spread a thin, even coat onto painted surfaces. Do not apply to vinyl, rubber or cloth surfaces. Use overlapping strokes to ensure uniform coverage. Allow product to dry thoroughly (approximately 10-15minutes). Remove using a Meguiar’s M9910 Ultimate Wipe Detailing Cloth, or any other premium quality, clean towel. Turn to a dry portion of towel for final wipe.

    * Use Meguiar’s C2000 Detailing Clay prior to application of M21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0 to ensure a smooth-as-glass finish
    * For best results, apply product using Meguiar’s D/A Polisher and Meguiar’s W8207 Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad or W9207 Soft Buff Finish Pad
    * For optimum results when using a rotary buffer, use a speed setting of 1,000 – 1,400 rpm and light pressure

    From the Meguiar's web site:
Meguiar's® NEW M21 2.0 Synthetic Polymer Sealant formulation provides technologically advanced paint care and protection. It produces a noticeable deeper, darker, more reflective paint finish. Synthetic polymers deliver extreme protection, eliminating fine scratches and swirls, creating a flawless finish. It glides on easy, with a smooth, resistance-free wipe-off
So reading through all of that, this is what I gather:
Ultimate Wax is not intended for a rotary.
Ultimate Wax introduces "Thin Film" technology
Ultimate Wax can be used in the sun. (I'm sure with certain limitations)
Ultimate Wax will not stain trim.
Ultimate Wax is the longest lasting protection, as of today anyway.

M21 can be used with a rotary.
M21 may not have Thin Film technology.
M21 may not (or is it should not?) be applied in the sun
    M21 will stain trim
M21 is some really long lasting wax(sealant)

Although very similar and perhaps derived from one another or similar technologies, in my opinion from this information, they are not just rebranded products.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me, will respond after resting their eyes...

Good information. BTW it says to remove M21 with a towel? I thought a microfiber cloth would be the way to go. I'm almost out of M21 and need to decide which to buy soon.

agree. I would have made "pie" of the wax off paint protection. just wondering. M21 a good product, one of "my" leaders. just do not want to completely abandon it (very good results on winter roads of Russia).
I usually do a combo of M21 (bottom), and top Gold Cass wax.Ultimate Wax completely knocked me up ))))))))))))
