Years ago, I was told not to use polish or wax on my windshield, as it might cause streaking in the rain. Is this still true?

The reason we don't recommend this is because so many people have this attitude of "if some is good, more is better" and they end up seriously over using products. And the big problem is that they don't realize how heavily they've over used it until they get into trouble. This is true not only for the topic at hand, but general use of waxes, dressings, polishes, etc.Michael Stoops

Re: Can I polish/wax my windshield?
I have tried UQW on my windows, and I do not like it.
It is nowhere as clear and streak free as NXT Glass Cleaner.
If you clean your windows whenever they get dirty with NXT, I find it keeps them clean and the water runs right off in rain, just my experience I point out.
I think it's because keeping it clean regularly (basically anytime you drive and anything gets on it) just prevents things from building up, and that helps the rain make its way off.
I suppose there could also be a small amount of something in the NXT Glass that helps with this since NXT Glass cleaner does also help prevent fogging on interior glass.

Re: Can I polish/wax my windshield?
Been a rain-x fan for years, just never seems to last that long. After switching to UW&W soap I found it has a similar (and much shorter lived) effect, used UQW on the windshield today, curious to see results.
ON an aside, I supopse claying before rain-x would likely result in improved durability as well as function?2011 F150 5.0L 4x4

I have polished glass on other cars with success too...Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
