  • Griots Garage pad question

Hey everyone! First post here. Looking to get started out but I have one question that I can't seem to find an answer to.

Im looking at picking up the Griots Garage DA. All my clay, cleaners, and polishes are Meguiars. The lifetime warranty on the GG seems unbeatable though. However I'd like to stick with Meguiar products aside from the DA.

My question is, will I be able to use Meguiar pads with the GG, without purchasing the backing plate? Or will I need the backing plate? Could I use up to a 7'' pad with the GG backing plate?

Also one other quick one If I may. When everyone speaks of "wet/dry vacs", do they mean something like this?

I would like to hose down my carpets and clean them out with some APC, but was wondering if this is the correct thing I am looking for.

Thanks everyone. This forum has been of great help!

    Re: Griots Garage pad question

There's no reason why you can't use our pads with that tool, but if you want to use our Soft Buff 2.0 pads we highly recommend swapping over to our W68DA backing plate. A smaller backing plate will put unnecessary stress on the back of the pad and can lead to premature failure. A smaller also won't support the Soft Buff 2.0 pads across enough of their diameter, so you'll lose cut as well.

As for the wet/dry vac, yep, that's a perfect example of one.

I have the GG 6" DA and it works great. I got the one with the 25' cord, so no need for an extension cord. I also got the W68DA backing plate and Soft Buff 2.0 pads and it all works quite well together!
