How about Meguiar's 4" foam polisher pads and the matching 3" Hand Pad / Backing Plate?
The 4" pads can also be used with a DA if you have the right backing plate.

How has that holder evaded me? I scabbed kinda the same thing outa a chunk of wood and leftover Velcro. I see a $10 purchase in the VERY NEAR future.
