  • Wheel Polishing Kit Review

I picked up the kit yesterday at Walmart for $23. We tried it out on the wife's Boyd Coddington aluminum wheels on her 454SS pickup. The wheels haven't been polished in about 4 years! We only worked on about a 1/4 of one wheel for about 10-15 minutes and the Dynacone and All Metal Polish seemed to work quite well!

Before, as you can see the wheels are pretty oxidized and have lots of water spots and what not:

Partially done, you can see the lower two spokes are fairly shiny:

Big improvement. Those polished parts look shiny again.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Dynacone/ All Metal Polish, Joel.

Did you pass supervisor's sniffy inspection?

yup I think it passed the sniffy inspection!

We were just doing a test spot to see how the cone and polish worked and I think the wheels will clean up pretty nicely and without too much effort! Way easier than by hand that's for sure!

Nice review! I just got my package of stuff from one of the giveaways and now have to figure out how to use this wheel polishing kit. Need to find some non-clear coated wheels.....

The wife worked on the wheel for a bit today:

I would say it's about 90% done and she worked on it for 30-40 minutes or so.

                  Re: Wheel Polishing Kit Review

Nice improvement! I've got some old Ansen jelly bean "mags" that were in rough shape (oxidized). Since they're old & low-pressure cast aluminum, they are also fairly porous which makes it tough to get the same type of finish as seen on your Boyds. I used the DynaCone for the majority of improvement, then finished with a final light polish by hand, which seemed to work great (sorry no pics now but will take some next time). Overall, I'm pleased with my results and the DynaCone really reduced the time to polish significantly (which is main reason why I let the wheels get so bad in the first place!)

                      Great Work Joel!

I bet the cone made it whole heck of a lot easier to polish up your wheels!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                      Remove swirls my friends.

                        Thanks Andrew!

Yes the wife says that the cone and polish is way easier than doing the job by hand!

                          Re: Wheel Polishing Kit Review

I worked on a wheel today and I think it came out pretty good! here is a before and after

the wheel still needs more work to be very good, but that will require a bunch of hand polishing in all the nooks and crannies and I don't think that is gonna happen anytime soon, the truck is going to get a new set of wheels in the near future...
