I had my car swiped by a grocery cart and it left a pretty scratch. I used UC 5 times on the area and still looked pretty bad. I then used 3000 grit sandpaper to smooth the area and then UC 2 coats to get the scratch out. Now I cannot see my reflection over the area and did not know if there was something I could do to restore the mirror look like the rest of my car. My car is a clearcoat bright blue HHR.

Re: Restore Mirror Finish
How aggressively are you working the Ultimate Compound? It's not a simple wipe on, let dry and wipe off like you would with a wax. That's actually a very common error, so if you're doing that don't feel bad! You should be able to pull out those 3000 grit sanding marks, but you'll need to put some serious elbow grease into the UC to get it done. Just don't go at it all day or you could run into a whole new set of problems. Go at it aggressively for about 30 seconds, then wipe off the residue and take a close look at the results. Maybe try this on just half of the area you sanded so you can see your progress more clearly. At this point you may find you need 3 or 4 aggressive passes to remove the sanding marks, but don't just go at full force from the get go - ease into it so to speak.Michael Stoops
