  • SURBUF pads vs "new" MF DA system.... OMG!

Dont know if any of you guys have tried the new SURBUF pads but back around Christmas I ordered a two pack for $15 and I just got around to trying them out tonight on my buddies girls car .... We gave her a good wash with GC, then proceed to clay it and as i reached for the yellow pad I thought WHY NOT try these guys ... i said to myself ...lets see what these new pads do (but i didnt tell her that she would be my guinea pig!) So i bust out the 151, give it a good finger prime all over, I tape off the trunk and proceed to do a 50/50 to show the girls... well what do you know ... it finished near 2 step 105 and 205 like ... knocked out all the surface swirls and lightened the deeper rid and no marring or holograms! I say NEAR as my 105 on the Makita with wool would have knocked out that deeper rid, but for a one stepper ... WOW!

Of course in their eyes that night i was THE MAN but thanks to the SURBUF gods they helped me! :P

Now this is my first test but as far as im concerned if i can get this type results in a single pass what more is really wanted!

the ultimate test will be on how many cars i can detail with a pad as they came out to $7 per pad ... I think if i can get 7 details out of it that will be very worth it.

LONG OF THE SHORT ... try out these pads they are rediculously good!

NOW ..... i wonder if any of the guys who were selected to try out the new MF DA "system" would care to do a side by side comparison because I bet it would give the new MF DA system a run for the money!

    Any takers?

Without doubt Surbuf pads are great and offer higher level of aggressiveness but there are couple things which push them down as well:

    - they have been developed as furniture polishing pads, DA MF System was designed right from the beginning for automobile industry with pad/ liquid tune up,

    - they almost never finish LSP ready, intense polishing is required to restore gloss before waxing,

    - their durability is not the greatest due to a short life of its micro-fingers which furthermore can remain on a buffing surface.

I personally used Surbuf pads with M105 and M205 and got good results after polishing but I'm really looking forward to DA MF System as it's gonna be a totally different experience. Each pad has tuned up liquid working with it. I must put money on DA MF System without hesitation.

In a very short time you'll hear plenty about how our new D/A Microfiber System stacks up to Surbuf - from ease of use, dusting/splatter, wipe off, level of cut, pad life, etc. Plenty of guys who have been testing the D/A Microfiber System have also used Surbuf and they'll definitely have something to say about it!

I've used both the Surbuf/105 and the DA MF/cutting discs/D300 compound. The Surbuf/105 combo has been my go-to for tough swirl jobs.

But now Meguiar's have done a leap frog over the Surbuf/105 combo.
IMHO - Hands down the DA MF cutting pads and M300 beat the Surbuf/105 combo. It is much cleaner, rotary "like" results, almost LSP ready, no taping, longer work time, no dusting, no splatter, no real difficult hard, dried on little M105 specks to try to clean off (I hate those stubborn specks!) and it wipes off like a dream.

Megs states that M105 is more aggressive than D300 and in some cases that may be the way you need to go. On all of the vehicles I've tried the MF DA/D300 on it worked GREAT and you can't argue that "least aggressive method first" is the best way to go.

Again IMHO - This new MF combo is a real WINNER and has definitely raised the bar.

We should get Charlie Sheen to try out the new system. He can talk about how #winning it is haha

But in all seriousness, I can't wait to try it out.

Mike while it is comparing apples to oranges, can you give us an estimate as to where the aggressiveness of D300 and the cutting disc combo lies in relevance to some other combos?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

              I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
              Remove swirls my friends.
