Hello all. I have been reading on here and other sites for a long time. I am purchasing my first orbital and will start working on my car (1991 NSX, Red) right away.
A few weeks ago, my in-laws dog was chasing a mouse, and got scratches all over the left and right rear quarter panels, truck lid, rear wing, and rear bumper. None of the scratches feel like they are through the paint (couldnt feel them with my finger). But, they look rough. And are much worse than a standard scratch that you might see on a vehicle.
It seems, from what I have been reading, that the M105 and M205 products are the products of choice. Is this still the case with a deep scratch, that is NOT through the paint? What pads are people applying the M105 with and the M205 with?
I will say this, we hit a panel with Scratch X just for giggles, and it didnt do a whole lot. We then tried using #9, and it made a little difference. After that we hit the same panel with #83 (I hope that is right), and it did pretty darn good. But, I believe that I would have to make multiple passes with #83 to get it to a satisfactory level. With that in mind, is the 105/205 still the choice of most detailers?
A good friend of mine, who details on the side will be showing me how to properly use the DA, so that I dont screw it all up. Plus, I have a few test panels to practice on.
Thanks for any and all advice. I tried searching for some already posted topics, but didnt quite get the responses that I was looking for.
