Did you dilute the Simple Green? The best way to prevent staining is to soak the panel in the soapy wash solution instead of just hosing the panel down.![]()

A great way to mask off fenders and the front end of a car before spraying any cleaner/degreaser in the engine bay is to split open some large plastic garbage bags and use masking tape to anchor them to the inside edge of the fender with the hood open. Mask all around the engine bay like this, even securing the bottom of the plastic to the side of the car with a bit of masking tape - even a gentle breeze will blow that thin plastic around. 3 or 4 large garbage bags is all it takes to mask off everything.

Perhaps the Max Stuff is different? Regular S.G. needs to be diluted, at minimum, 1:1. We live and learn. I found out the hard way once as well, lol![]()
A little older thread here--but did you ever find a solution?
If not, how about fighting fire with fire? Alot of caustic based degreasers (not sure if krud kutter is) will need to be reactivated if left to dry. Using a little more and then rinsing very well while still wet may get a better base to start with.
