Pictures from Thursday Night Open Garage - October 28th, 2010
We had a very productive night last night - two new cars (3 weeks and 600~700 miles on the clock for each!) and a badly buffed out repaint. But we determined a plan of action for each that the respective owners can take home and complete the job with fantastic results.
We started with Jason's 2010 Challenger. We sort of hate when this happens, but when checking out his car in the lot early on we noticed a big ol' scratch on the rear quarter panel - Jason hadn't seen it so we were kind of the bearers of bad news.
We decided to see what could be done about that scratch so we got to work with some Ultimate Compound, a W8207 polishing pad and the G110v2.
A couple of passes later (at speed 4 even!) and it was gone.
The nasty bit dealt with, the crew wiped down the whole car while Jason got a feel for some M205 on the hood.
Jason finished up by giving the Challenger it's first full coat of wax - NXT Tech Wax 2.0 to be precise.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the garage, Ron had us check out his gorgeous red Caddilac CTS. It was in desperate need of claying, having spent several months on the dealer lot before Ron brought it home.

And look at those swirls!
So once again it's Ultimate Compound with a W8207 pad on the G110v2. We followed that with M205 on a black pad for that extra pop to the finish.

Beautiful, sparkling paint. Our only regret is that it was dark out by the time we finished correcting the hood. This paint must look spectacular in direct sun now!
Raymond brought in his Civic coupe that had been partially resprayed following some collision repair. Unfortunately, even after a couple if trips to the body shop the paint looked far from perfect. This was sort of fitting what with Halloween just around the corner - the paint was downright scary!
Raymond has a bottle of M83 at home and was hoping to use it to correct this mess. Well, it did a decent enough job but wasn't quite up to the task. It left a fair amount of defects but it hazed the paint very badly, so we stepped up to UC. That's the ticket.
We pulled the tape off and shined the light on the panel and we got two reactions from just about everyone:
- Wow!! What a difference!!
- Holy smokes, that isn't black it's dark blue!!
Raymond then got to work to fix the rest of the panel. Hey, we couldn't let him go home with the car looking like that now, could we?
And finally, to close out the night, Mike Palero wanted to try a couple of things on his GLI. Just for kicks.
