[QUOTE=Michael Stoops;451386]If you're using the liquid version of the new Ultimate Wax and are seeing some streaking or unevenness, we'd like you try applying it to a panel at a time and wiping off after letting it sit for just a minute or two. We're seeing no streaking at all doing it this way, and still experiencing very long lasting protection.]

Good tip. Kind of like applying X-Press Spray Wax.

From personal experience on my wife's car the liquid version held up beautifully to the torrential rains we had here last month. Including a 300 mile round trip drive in a heavy downpour, and many days of heavy rain exposure before and after that, when I finally did wash the car I could barely keep water on the darn thing. Mark and Andy, if you want to edit this because I sound like too much of insider just shilling product, feel free to do so, but I was highly impressed by how this product stood up to all the rain we had recently.

As for the paste version, I applied that to my Crossfire with a 4" pad on my G110v2 and the car has never looked better. Well, OK, I did a quick once over with Ultimate Polish on a finishing pad via G110v2 before applying the wax, but still!
Haha, I'll let it slide...this time... but I'm watching you Mr. Stoops!

Took your advice and gave it a shot. You are correct. I had perfect results with a shorter dry time. No smearing what so ever. I let the wax sit for about 5min on each panel and I then removed the wax by hand with a new MF towel in a north to south motion, not circular.

Applying and removing the wax this way almost reminds me of using the Ultimate Quick Wax with more of a uniform and complete application. Easy on and easy off in half the time of a normal wax job.

My paint prior to the application was in great shape and well maintained. This may have had something to do with the shorter dry time. Curious on other results with the shortened method

Meg's usually recommends 55f for most products.

Paste still recommended to do the entire car before removal?

Yes, with the paste you can apply to the entire car and let haze. Remember, the paste version may stain plastic/vinyl trim due to some of the ingredients that make it a paste. The liquid version will not stain trim.

Personally, the paste version may well be my new favorite wax. I used it on two of our cars, applied via D/A with a 4" pad, and it far exceeded my expectations.

I'm I missing something here? Is the liquid version of this new wax sappoused to be a wipe on wipe off formula similar to ultimate quik wax spray?

Michael, why do you prefer the paste to the liquid? Is it just the streaking issue?

                          Mike,

When you use paste on the DA instead of the liquid, how do you apply the wax. Do you just run the DA pad over the paste, just as you would a small hand pad?

                          Thanks

Not quite - you do want it to sit for a couple of minutes at least. Do a panel at a time, then wipe off.

The streaking didn't really bother me since it was so easy to correct anyway - a light spritz of plain water onto a microfiber towel and a quick wipe and it was gone, no big deal. As for any preference one way or the other, I'm still not 100% decided, but the paste was just such a dream to use (especially for a paste) and partly because my own little brain sort of works in cycles with wax and right now I'm really liking applying paste wax with a D/A. Sometimes it's just the "something different" factor. As an example, I may go a year without using a particular product and then reach for it again on a whim. Suddenly I'm reunited with an old favorite and wonder why I haven't used it in a while. But then a year later I reach for the other product, or I combine two of them......... Car Crazy you think??? Or just easy accessibility to an extensive product line???!!!

Take a look at this thread on applying paste wax with a D/A. Works like a charm!

After using UC, UP, and UW... I'm not happy with smooth as glass.
Smooth as Glass is an old standard, the new standard for paint texture is Meguiar's Ultimate Quality...

To some degree, sure; exactly the same? Hard to say as so much depends on the degree of swirls present, etc. But any wax will, at least to some level, hide minor defects by simple virtue of the fact that you're leaving something behind on the surface.
