How would this compare to let's say #7?

        Re: Ultimate Polish

I knew it! Well, some sort of polish, at least.

Is this one formulated specifically for CC? Rather than, say, M07?

Well, now the Ultimate system is complete, kind of like Deep Crystal was. Compound, polish, and wax.

            Re: Ultimate Polish

Ultimate Polish is derived from M205 in much the same way Ultimate Compound is derived from M105. So it does have some fine SMAT abrasives in it, unlike M07 which is a pure polish. It gives the same sort of long buffing cycle that M205 does when used with a D/A but the final feel to the finish is more like what M07 leaves. Very nice surface refining and plenty of polishing oils in this one. If you've got a dark colored car it will noticeably darken and richen the appearance.

Is this product replacing the current Swirl X??
It appears to me that they are very similar products...

At this time, no. Ultimate Polish offers a lot more polishing oils than SwirlX but similar cleaning ability.

So if they cut the same and ultimate polish has more oils, it's a better product

why bother with swirlX then ?

Exactly what I'm wondering, why keep swirl X? How strong is the cleaning ability of this product in relation to the other paint claners like 205? Does it work well by hand as well as DA?

                            Re: Ultimate Polish

This product looks like a winner! With the disappearance of Deep Crystal Cleaner there's been a gap in the Meguiar's lineup. I know that SwirlX was intended to fill this gap, yet I suspect that it has not done so. And now we have Ultimate Polish, which will function both as a fine paint cleaner and a glaze. This will be a product that enthusiasts will be able to eager to use several times a year. Well done!

SwirlX has had an interesting life thus far. It is more widely available than Ultimate Compound yet UC outsells it by a huge margin. We believe this just proves that idea that most people tend to grab the most aggressive product they can find in the hopes it will get the job done faster.

Ultimate Polish is not only a very different product to SwirlX, but it's obviously being positioned a bit differently as well. Rather than a less aggressive alternative to UC it's being looked at as a compliment or follow up to UC. SwirlX was never really looked upon that way in the market place. Obviously Ultimate Polish can be used as a light cleaner, or for use on very delicate paint systems, when UC is more aggressive than needed.
