  • Polish and pure polish

    Hey guys
I think I know but ....... I want someone who knows more than me to explain it . What is the difference between Deep Crystal polish and "pure Polish"? I know this is simple for all of you.

    Re: Polish and pure polish

DC polish is a pure polish, much like #7 Show Car Glaze only a bit more user/consumer friendly. It has no corrective capabilities......works great though!
    Black......the ONLY color!

      Re: Polish and pure polish

"Polish" is a word that is used many different ways in the detailing world, but we've been using it one way since 1901. To us a "polish" is just a gloss enhancing product, nothing more, nothing less. A "pure polish" is one that contains no cleaning ability and offers no protection. Products like Deep Crystal Polish, M07 Show Car Glaze, M05 New Car Glaze, M03 Machine Glaze and M81 Hand Polish are all "pure polishes". As a couple of the names above imply, many people refer to this type of product as a glaze.

Meguiar's uses the term "paint cleaner" to describe a product that is designed to remove defects from the paint via an abrasive or chemical process (the chemical cleaning process is very rare within our products, by the way). Products like Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner (no longer available in the US), M02 Fine Cut Cleaner, M01 Medium Cut Cleaner and M04 Heavy Cut Cleaner would fall into this category. A lot of our competitors call their similar products "polish", which often leads to some confusion when a user makes the move to Meguiar's products. To further confuse the issue, there is a well known Internet based company who sells what most of us would consider to be a synthetic sealant, but they call it a polish. Go figure.

Of course we also offer some products that combine polish with a paint cleaner - cleaner polishes. M80 Speed Glaze, M83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish, SwirlX, M205 Ultra Finishing Polish and others fit into this category.

While we're at it, let's throw some different waxes at you! Pure waxes, as we define them, are waxes that just offer protection - no cleaning, no polish. Deep Crystal Carnauba and M26 High Tech Yellow Wax are chief among these. Then there are waxes with cleaning ability - cleaner waxes. This would include our consumer Cleaner Wax (painfully obvious, that one!), M06 Professional Cleaner Wax, M66 Quick Detailer, M20 Polymer Sealant and even D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream. Lastly, we have some waxes that combine polish with the protection - NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and Gold Class Carnauba Plus being the most common.

Hopefully the above helped to clarify some things for you rather than just confuse you further! Yes, there's a lot of different products out there just in the Meguiar's lineup, let alone all of the other folks making finish care products. It just takes time to get used to it all, but with enough reading a sort of osmosis thing takes over and you end up suddenly realizing you know more than you thought you did!

Can the deep crystal polish be applied by machine? It dosent state anywhere on the website or bottle? I imagine it is safe.
