We may have started a bit slow last night but once things got rolling, they really got rolling!

How's this for a little chrome clean up on this Harley Davidson mirror?

After a bit of Hot Rims Chrome Polish:


Now it's up to the bike's owner to do the rest!


CJ just got back from South Carolina where he picked up this near mint Honda S2000 CR. "Near mint" means it did have some issues:




With all the very delicate Honda paint we've seen lately, and with this being a non-metallic black, we decided to take a very easy approach to start out. We compared M205/W8207 with SwirlX/W8207, ColorX/W8207 and M105/W9207 (the last one just for giggles after having tried the other 3). By far the best finish was SwirlX/W8207 and moderate pressure on speed 5. It took a couple of passes to accomplish the task of full defect removal, and even then the paint looked a tiny bit hazy due to how delicate it was. As a final step we compared M20 Polymer Sealant with it's light cleaning ability to NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0. In this case, M20 appeared to be the better fit. So that is CJ's new plan - he's picking up a G110v2 and the correct pads along with some SwirlX and M20. He'll get this S2000 CR looking so good the old owner will want it back!




Here's a half-and-half on the fender after the initial pass of SwirlX. A second pass finished it off.


So we put CJ behind the wheel and let him finish off the hood, gaining a big of knowledge and confidence along the way.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the garage...... what the heck are we looking at here?????


Oh, right..... it's paint.


Nothing a little M80 Speed Glaze and Andy Wong can't fix. Just look at that concentration!






This is NOT a W7207 burgundy cutting pad, it's a W8207 yellow polishing pad after making the truck red again.


Now it's a group effort.


In the shot above you can see Mike Palero working on the bumper. A little Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum Polish is just the ticket.


You gotta love it when everyone else is attacking that nasty single stage paint and Mike just jumps in and fixes something else. Look at that!


We finished off with some very light headlight cleanup on a very nice 2000 model year MB CLK430

As usual, I had a wonderful time chatting with the regulars and meeting more CarCrazy folks. I'm pretty sad this is the last TNOG I'll be able to attend for 2010, as I start university classes this coming Thursday. TNOG will be shifting into park pretty soon and I believe will only start back up once daylight savings time switches again on Feb 20 =( In the meantime, I'll try to get by by compounding and waxing test panels.

In these pictures you will see Bob. I invited a racing buddy of mine, Bob, to TNOG so I could prove to him I could resurrect his paint. It turned out pretty well with old standby M80! It was nice I didn't have to do any real work to the truck-- I tricked him by telling him I was "teaching him how to use the G110v2." It worked out well for Bob... and my back.

While the areas we did looked fantastic, That truck is still rolling around Southern California and terrorizing eyes everywhere with it's 1/3 done, 2/3s oxidized single stage paint!
