We're getting started in just a few minutes. It's a beautiful evening here in SoCal and we're looking forward to a great night! We'll have pix up later but a Tweet or two during the evening!

Yet another terrific night at Meguiar's Garage. It started a bit slow but, wow, did we get busy!! Lots of things going on, plenty of people learning new processes and techniques.

Why not start the evening by learning how to use the G110v2?

How about a little wax comparison testing? Once the tape was removed it was easy to see that all three waxes darkened the surface - the waxed areas just looked "redder". Which was deemed "best"? That sort of depended on who you asked! The light was getting pretty low so the subtle differences were impossible to catch on camera.

What do you do when you've got a custom turbo setup on your RX7 and it's running pretty rich? Well first off, unfortunately, you get a lot of build up near the exhaust tip. The next step is to simply work a bit of Ultimate Compound in the area to clean it all up!

    Before:

    After:

    Attack of the Celicas!!!

This fender had been repainted recently, and once again it seems the body shop failed to properly buff it out. There was simply no clarity to the finish, so we hit it with some M105 with a wool pad on a rotary buffer. We've seen waaay too much of this shoddy work lately, which really is sad. But look at the difference once we pulled the tape off - you can actually see a reflection in the right side!

Another repaint with some issues. We had seen this car before and wanted to address the issue, but it was in a tight spot and neither time nor proper tools were really available then. But now we could use the mini air tools from the Pro Headlight & Spot Repair Kit and get to it. A little fine damp sanding, then some M105/wool followed by M205/foam polishing pad and finally M205/foam finishing pad. We greatly reduced the texture left behind by the body shop. And this wasn't just orange peel - it was a rough, coarse texture.

While that was going on we had a bunch of other projects in the works simultaneously!

Michael and Peidi brought Peidi's R32 in for some bird etching removal on the hood. Michael has taken both our basic and advanced classes but Peidi was interesting in learning how to take care of her car too. Here's one of the etch marks she wanted to get rid of:

So we got her working with the G110v2, a W8207 polishing pad and some Ultimate Compound.

Three passes later and, well, if you need to look this hard for something on a car that's both a daily driver and a track day regular, then maybe it's not there anymore?

This explains why we couldn't find it: It's not there any more.
