  • Mercedes Leather Seat Care

My Mercedes dealership gave me a bottle of Mercedes Leather Seat Care 2-3 years ago. On the bottle it says "Formulated exclusively for Mercedes automobiles by Meguiar's". It also says "Cleans, nourishes and protects leather seat and other leather trims".

I thought it was Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner but when I opened it earlier today, it is a light blue paste (not liquid). Is anyone familiar with this product?

    Re: Mercedes Leather Seat Care

Just checked, Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner does come in paste form. Maybe it's this one. I doubt if Meguiar's would make a special product for MB.

My regular Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner is in a spray bottle.

Anyone has experience in this paste product?

The leather care product we used to make for MB was essentially our Gold Class lotion. The color may be slightly different but that's really about it.

Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner is available in spray, lotion and wipes and we also introduced a gel formula for 2010. If you have perforated leather seating we would recommend either the spray or gel as these are the only two that won't dry white in the perforations or on stitching.

        Thanks for the clarification.

In term of durability and end-result (protection, looks, etc), which one is better, spray or paste?

End result is virtually identical between the spray and lotion versions. The gel probably has the lowest overall gloss of any of them though. That said, if you apply any of these a bit heavy and find the gloss level to be a bit higher than you like, just buff the surface a bit with a clean terry towel and you'll knock down that shine.

              Little confused with gel/lotion products.

Is this the gel you are talking about?

If you have perforated leather and the only leather care product you have is the lotion (there isn't a true "paste" leather care product in Meguiar's lineup) then just work the lotion fully into your applicator before applying it. That will prevent you from loading the perforations with the thick lotion.

Best to stick with the spray or gel, however, if you have perforated leather.

Yes, that is the new for 2010 gel product, and it won't dry white in the perfs or on stitching.
