Just checked out good ole Craigs List and found a Dewalt 849 that an older couple is selling in a garage sale. I just received email from the lady and called her. They are wanting $75.00 for it, is that a steal of a deal? I know they are around $200 online so I am going to go snatch it. She said it works great and was just used to buff there boat. Let me know if you guys think its a deal.

Re: Going tonight to buy a dewalt!!!!!!
If lightly used, and it sounds like it was, then it's a screamin' deal on an excellent tool. Get it.
But make sure you know what you're doing with it before you starting working on a car you care about.Michael Stoops

Re: Going tonight to buy a dewalt!!!!!!
That looks like a really good polisher - I have a couple of rotaries and love using them. I think you'll find the transition easy enough since you'll know the principles from your time with a DA.
I think the finish is very clear and using a finishing polish on a slow speed you can burnish in an amazing clarity and depth. My only tip is to relax your grip - tense arms make things difficult since the pad must be absolutely flat or you'll be fighting the polisher. Let the polisher tell YOU when it's happy and just guide it around. That takes practice, which you can get a lot of with a soft finessing pad and a glaze.
Most of all, have fun ...
