  • Marine Wax on cars?

A friend of mine, started asking me if he could use the Meguiars Marine wax on his car. If it was going to damage it finish (because he already used it and loved the way it looks ).So the only thing i could tell him is that Marine is designed for Boats with gelcoats and Automotive wax is designed for clear coat paints.

Am i correct with this? Or can i use Marine wax on cars?

    Let me know any news..

    Thanks m8's

It isn't going to hurt the paint and still offers UV protection, so as long as he likes the look I'd say it's perfectly fine to use. I'm guessing here but I think you were spot on when you said the marine wax is for fiberglass/gelcoat rather than metal/clear coat, auto waxes probably "look" better, but that is a subjective result and as long as he is happy then more power to him.

We generally state that our Marine/RV products should not be used on automotive paint, but that really only applies to anything with cleaning/defect removal abilities. Waxes are a different story so if your friend likes what he sees then so be it. He's fine doing this.

Just don't let him use M44 Color Restorer or M49 Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover (or anything similar in the Marine/RV line) on his car.
