    Cool Video Mike!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

Re: Meguiar's Quik Tips Video - The 5 - Step Paint Care Cycle

            Very nicely done!

Given the fact that the target audience for this is going to be the retail consumers looking to find the right products to care for their car, I want to make some comments/suggestions.

Step 2, cleaning/prepping. The narrator never uses these words, just says "This step." Also, rather than showing the use of the products, like clay or Swirlx or UC, like the video does in all the other steps, only the conditions that you want to treat are listed in no particular order, defects like oxidation, stains, swirls, overspray, fallout. Then pictures of the products that might fix them are shown.

I think in the amount of time that you are allotting to this short video, you could briefly show a person claying the car and state what the claying does, then briefly show a person removing swirls or oxidation with SwirlX or UC, and show a finished half-and-half result. I don't think it would add much to the length of the video to just convey the picture.

Part of the problem is that you are calling step 2 the cleaning/prep step, which detailers and Meguiar's customers know what that means. A potential retail customer, maybe one who has never done more than wash and wax his car, will not. The term clean/prep will not be intuitively obvious. It sounds like the result of this step will make the paint extra clean, which of course it does, but it also does a lot more.

So anyway, just thought I would pass on the input. Again, nice work on the video, and I look forward to seeing the others.

Re: Meguiar's Quik Tips Video - The 5 - Step Paint Care Cycle

One other thing, the other Meguiar's consumer product in the step 2 process, ScratchX 2.0, could also be mentioned for removal of isolated scratches that aren't too deep.

Okay, I don't want to be negative, (probably too late ) but the way they show the guy washing the car made me cringe a little bit, going over and over the same area, because I thought in the 2-bucket method the idea was to just make a pass or two across each area going down each panel. So if you were to make changes, the length of time shown washing could be reduced so that more emphasis could be placed on the step 2 products, because I think those are the ones that retail customers will understand the least and need the most information about to persuade them to buy them and try them.

Again, I am hoping what I say to be constructive. I did this kind of thing for a living for maybe 25 years (making hopefully constructive comments, not detailing) so it is hard to resist. The film is great, it might be possible to make it better, maybe next time around if you ever think of redoing it for new product introductions.

All great comments that we appreciate and have noted, so thanks for viewing and commenting

Keep in mind, the "5 - Step Paint Care Cycle" video was created as a short set up video for future "Quik Tips" videos. We kept is short and sweet by design

The future videos will go into more depth for each step / topic....Washing, Claying, Waxing, etc....

We also did not intend for this series of videos to be a complete "How-To" series. This "Quik Tips" Series was to address the most common questions we get at events, on the phone, and in e-mails from consumers who are newer to care care and simply confused

Thanks again for the comments and keep your eyes peeled for more videos soon!!!

Thanks, Mike. I look forward to seeing the others.

I wish I would ever find a retailer that sold so many of the Meguiars products and all together on a shelf like you showed in the video, especially since I know all I am ever looking for is the Meguiars brand. In reality, they only have so much shelf space, and most of them only sell a fraction of the products offered, and they are scattered all through out the display along with competitor products.

I love all the Meguiars products, but I think some of the car care step 2 products for consumers can really separate Meguiars from the "rest of the pack" if consumers understand them and know how and when to use them. Any opportunity you have to give these products the attention they deserve with the less informed consumers will help get more people asking for them and more of those products onto the retail shelves!

I am beginning to think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
