  • Just Ordered a G110V2 today

So I have taken the boards advice and ordered a G110V2 today from ADS. I may have got a little carried away in the process.

Got 6 Soft Buff Pads (3) yellow (2) black (1) burgundy
    Water Magnet
    (5) Microfiber 16x16 blue towels
    Another Clay kit
    32oz D101 APC
    32oz D108 SD
    NXT Insane Tire Shine
another can of NXT 2.0 Tech Wax paste
another tube of Scratch X 2.0
and some other detail brushes and foam applicators

About $300 later I finally had to check out!

Can't wait to get my stuff.

Congrats on the G110v2! Can't wait until I can order mine!

I ordered some stuff March 10, should finally come tomorrow. The waiting is sure tough.

I'm getting this to use with my rotary: http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/ropb-5l.html to clean carpet in my car and, ahem, any other places that need scrubbing in the house. I like having multiple uses for my toys

Be careful using this with a rotary as it is designed for use with a D/A. That pure circular, direct drive action of the rotary may be an issue. Experiment with very slow speed to start and see how easy it is to control. We've used these on a D/A to fantastic effect, but things might be different with a rotary.

I'll be careful, and I'll let you know how it works. My lowest speed is 600 and I didn't foresee using it any higher.

I had seen a similar (or same?) one sold by Chemical Guys http://www.chemicalguys.com/carpet_a...01_brush_c.htm, and they claim the rotary is okay.

If nothing else, it shouldn't do any harm on tile. I guess I'll know tomorrow, and a DA is still in my future. Thanks for the caution.

On tile, huh? You know, a rotary might almost be a help there. On carpet though that direct drive might be another story. But these things, on a D/A, are fantastic on carpet!!

                Ordered today - Shipped today

Choosing ADS was a smart move.

Thanks again everyone for the advice on where to buy

When/If the rain ever stops I will get some "before" pictures and hopefully in a week or so have some GREAT looking after pictures with little or no scratches and a Great shine.

I ordered both the short and the long bristle brush, but I just tested the long one because it would be gentler on the carpet (less aggressive method first).

I tested it on some tough carpet spots in the rear floor mats of my car. It really works fantastic with the rotary!

The brush is 5 inches in diameter, and since it did not have a hole for the button on the Meguiars backing plate I had to use the 7" backing plate that came with the rotary. I eyeballed the brush to the center of the plate.

I used APC+ mixed 4:1 in a bowl and dipped the brush in the bowl. The first time, oops, I forgot to set the speed down, and it slung soap. Then I turned it down to 600.

It worked very smoothly and very well. You could let go of the handle and just hold it lightly and move it around. I used the Hoover steam vac filled with water to extract out the excess soap.

I wish I could upload the before and after pictures, but that isn't working yet. Maybe later. All in all, it looks like at low speeds this brush works well with the rotary.

                    Before

                    After

The thing that was actually impressive to me about this, and the reason I chose these mats to test the brush cleaning process, is that after I got my repair work on my front end, the collision shop had my car "detailed," nothing breathtaking, but they did a really good job on my interior (especially considering how long it had been since it was cleaned).

But they couldn't get the spots out of these carpets.

I thought I was done buying. Now I see the carpet attachment after placing my order for a G110V2. I ordered from Amazon because it's free shipping....even to Hawaii. I just ordered a Makita Rotary 3 days ago and was on the fence on whether I needed a DA as well. I still don't think I need it, but it'd probably be nice to have and make some things easier......and I just wanted to stop thinking about it and the only way to do that was to get it. People talk to me at work and I see their lips moving, but all I was thinking was.....'I got a rotary, do I really need a DA?' Seriously, for the last 3 days, that was me. It was like a broken record in my head.

I debate that sometimes too. There are things you can do with a rotary that you can't do with the DA, but also there are things you can do with the DA that you can't do with the rotary. One is applying and removing wax (at least I hadn't heard of doing that with the rotary). Another is you can use the DA to wet sand the car. And if you're like me, I might have the guts to do my own car with the rotary since I have practiced a lot on a junk hood, but if I did a friend's car I might feel safer doing it with a DA.

I just haven't bought the DA yet for financial reasons (at least perception reasons since my family perceives I spend too much money on "car stuff") I got a very inexpensive rotary, but it works.
