  • Machine Washable Pads?

With the introduction of the new machine washable Soft buff 2.0 pads last year, have the original 6.5" Soft Buff pads ever been upgraded to be machine washable?

I read a post where someone said all of Megs pads are machine washable now, but I do not recall reading where anyone from Meguiar's stated that, and I do not see anywhere on the Megs product site that says in the description that the 6.5" pads are indeed machine washable now.

The only pads that I have officially seen that are machine washable are the 7" 2.0 pads as well as the soon to be released 4" pads. Is this correct?

That was me. From what I recall, I thought either Megs started using a new glue on the Velcro or they no longer recommend against machine wash. I could be wrong but this is what I recall reading.

Only our Soft Buff 2.0 7" pads and the new 4" foam pads can safely be machine washed/dried. The earlier Soft Buff pads should still be cared for using more traditional methods.

I don't think the 6.5" soft buff pads were ever recommended to be "washed", but rather cleaned up (using a brush and/or towel to wipe it clean) and stored away in it's plastic bag. *I* use APC or dawn power dissolver and spray onto the pad, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then massage the pad under running water, gently squeeze and swing all the water out, and then lay out to dry on the grit guard. Has worked for me all these years with no problems.

Maybe they'll be upgraded as well, or better yet we'll see a 5.5 inch size in the near future.

Thanks Mike. That is what I thought. I just wanted to make sure.

Do you know if there are any plans to upgrade the 6.5" pads to machine washable in the future?

No plans at this time, sorry.
