  • DETAILED: Honda S2000

I took delivery of this 2004 S2000 Friday night so I can get an early start Saturday morning as I knew it would take quite a bit of time to get this paint looking as close as possible to perfect.

Before doing anything here are a couple of before shots

After washing it I clayed a small area so I can do a test spot. M105 on the rotory with a W-8006 pad seemed to do the trick. I tried 205 first which worked great but still needed a bit more cut.

The famous clay in the hand shot. The paint to begin with didn't look too bad. Once it was fully clayed the clarity in the paint began taking place.

Once the car was clayed I polished out the head lights per customers request. There was some slight dullness to the lens. I went from 800 grit to 3000 grit followed by a polish on a 3" orange foam pad.

This is after the 800 grit.

Final result. For some reason I didn't upload the photo showing the 3000 grit.

    A few during shots

after the first pass with M105

Worked on the car until around 10pm. Just about ready to call it a long day. Oh and maybe Next season the Angels will do better

    DAY 2
After working on the car with M105 I had plenty of dust that needed to be washed off. So I rinsed the car off with dionized water untill all the dust was completely off.

After the rinse I went over the car with M205, W-9006 and the rotory. That really brought out the shine. Once that was done I went over the car once again with the same combination but this time using the G110 to ensure I didn't get any holograms. This paint has absolutely no flakes and is black as black can be so I had to be careful how I wiped off the product. Let's just say that too much pressure wiping can result in very light scratches.

    and after NXT 2.0

The rims were washed with soap and water. The material on this rims were like no other I have worked on. Not sure what they were so to avoid causing any damage I took the safe yet effective route. The tires received a coat of #40.

And here is about another 100 shots

That mark you see on the hood was a cloud or something.

All in all I spent 14 hours (13:50 to be exact) on the paint alone. The interior per customers request was not touched. I figure I removed about 85-90% of the scratches mainly remaining on the hard top. I couldn't measure the paint thickness on the top so I removed enough to make it presentable. The customer was happy and so was I.

    Thanks all for viewing.

Is this car related to Mr. Kimel's belove "Luthien". Maybe they are brother and sister? LOL

Looks stunning. Oh the mark on the hood looks more like a vapor trail from a jet than a cloud.

Thanks Gemini13. That has to be it. When I first saw that I gasped for air because I thought it was in the paint. Believe me I triple checked the entire car before letting her go.
