    Liquid glass

I am new to detailing and enjoy learning more about this. I had no idea how much thought and prep went into detailing a car. My wife went to a "Fast Lanes" car wash and paid $120 for a detail. They did a horrible job so I decided I will detail my own cars from now on!!

My dad says he uses Liquid Glass on his car. Has anyone heard of this stuff. I know it is expensive. Their car wash is over $100 a gallon.

Also, clay bar, is it difficult? I have a 2001 Passat that has quite a bit of over spray on it.

    Thanks

    Re: Liquid glass

Liquid Glass is an acrylic type of wax. It has been around for awhile. It is expensive but durable. Gloss/sheen is more crisp whereas, the newer meguiars waxes impart a deeper shine (my opinion).

Using clay is rather easy but timeconsuming if done right. Knead the clay into a workable "patty", spray the panel with QD and gently wipe with the clay until it glides smooth. If on side of the clay gets dirt, re-knead and repeat. Continue this for every panel. (if you drop the clay on the ground, then discard it as it probably has picked up contaminants.)

Thank you for the quick replies. I will post some pics of the paint so maybe you can give me some suggestions. I did wash and wax it with Gold Class, which I was satisfied even though I know it needs more work than that. Thanks for all the info and kind welcome!

    Welcome!

Claying is a MUST before working on paint. You will greatly enjoy the results. If you think a freshly waxed surface is slick, wait until you clay THEN wax. It's amazing!

Actually, Liquid Glass isn't a bad product at all. You can buy it at AutoGeek if I recall. Does it last as long as some other products? Not really, but it does work. My dad bought me a can of it years ago and I'm still hanging onto it.
