Awesome Job Guys... From the Italian Job Detailing Guys ...

Thank you to the Mike Brother's and Barry for funding these awesome classes and opening up The Meguiar garage and pocket book to provide these free class. This is a very generous thing Meguiar's does. Keep up the good work guys.

PS. The pizza is good, and don't take this the wrong way but if you are ever planning a trip to San Diego, this goes for Barry too, please look me up. We know most Italian's down here and know a couple of pizza joints that are as good as the ones back East!

Just wanted to say thanks again to Mike and Mike. The class was very informative and I can't wait to try everything I learned on my own car.

Re: Pictures from July 25th, 2009 - Saturday Open Class

It was great to have such a full and energetic group yesterday - you guys were awesome!!

            A full class....

Our test subject was in need of some serious help, as this visual evaluation shows!

Evaluating by touch told us that this car's issues were more than just swirls; the paint was very rough.

After a little instruction, Becky gives the clay bar a try.

            Everything checks out after claying....

...so it's on to some hand work to attack the below surface defects.

Next up, the G110. See, it rotates and oscillates - it's dual action!!

Keep the pad flat, add a bit of pressure....

....Becky show's she not just a clay expert!

Vala gives the G110 a go - flat pad, a bit of pressure, niiiice.

From swirled and spotted to deep, rich black. Now that's more like it!

Re: Pictures from July 25th, 2009 - Saturday Open Class

As a little sidebar demonstration, we took surface temperature readings of several cars in the parking lot. The sun had come out but it was still well before noon when we took these pictures. It doesn't take long at all for a black car to get extremely hot, and this is why you shouldn't work on a vehicle in direct sunlight.

              Black

              Red

              Silver

              White

We pulled the black car into the garage and let it cool down until we could comfortably place a hand on the surface - about 30 minutes or so. This is finally getting into the safe range, which means you can't just pull a black car into the shade and start working right away. It takes a bit for the surface temp to drop sufficiently.

Awsome pictures! I really had a great time and learned a lot. I was very, very impressed how the whole class was set up, from the two great teachers to the powerpoint to the hands-on lesson. =D

I said it to Pennington and I'll say it again, Stoops looks at bit like Wade Boggs.

                          Mike y Mike.
Thanks for the informative discussion and hands-on instruction.

Looking forward to the advanced class, so I can incorporate what I've learned into my own details.

Less greasy foods would be much appreciated next time, though.
