IF this is a sickness please don't let anyone find a cure any time soon!!! Because now for once I can get really sick and I will not have a care or cure in the world to fix what is not wrong with me, I LIKE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OCD is the sickness, not detailing.

For me detailing is a way to get satisfaction as an obsessive compulsive person. It doesn't hurt or offend anyone in any way. I get my girlfriend involved and we often detail our vehicles at the same time. It's pretty cool.

I think it's a great hobby, that I think a lot more people would enjoy with a bit of knowledge. We see it everyday on the forum. People come here with years of passion for automobiles and car care, but they don't really "get it" until they start to see the results they can truly get, with the correct products and product knowledge.

Just getting into detailing, so it is costing me big buck to get everthing I need. But I have found I love to detail my vehicles and so rewarding when I see what I have accomplished.

I'm going to have to agree with 3Fitty. I find detailing my car helps me relive stress as well as having a beautiful ride when I'm done. For me detailing is only a hobby but I enjoy it. If only I could get my husband to understand and enjoy it with me sometimes as well. He's not the best at taking care of his car but he sure loves it when I do it for him.

Several of you have mentioned "therapy", "stress relief", etc when it comes to detailing. Here's something to keep in mind when/if you start to get a bit obsessive about things, or start to over think things:

Especially for the enthusiast, detailing is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need therapy. There's a huge difference!!

Only if it had the side effect of keeping my car clean, polished and shiny.

I wish I could go back to the days when a once a week car wash was fine for me !

Now One little bee dropping or little bit layer of dust on my vehicle and I must take care of it !

Bird droppings make me feel grossed out and offend me ! Looking at a scratch or dent actually makes me cringe like I myself have been hurt . I make faces of disgust at peoples cars all the time!Sometimes customers pick up on it and thats not good!

This is not normal ! I wish I had some glasses that would make it all go away!
