This is a special Isuzu, something like less than 500 in the U.S. market. Maybe someone that knows more about this model will chime in.

One of the issues is this hood cover that is made out of some kind of composite material and from the factory has flat or matte finish. The problem is that with time, washing and normal wear and tear it becomes very faded and dull looking, taking away from the beauty of the rest of the car. One of the problems with flat or matte finishes is there are no products on the market specifically for these types of surfaces. While Meguiar's doesn't make a specific product for flat or matte finishes, sometimes all you can do is all you can do and to date we've had pretty good luck using Meguiar's G10810 Gold Class Trim Detailer.

You apply using a clean, soft foam applicator pad, work over and into the surface like you would apply lotion to your skin, allow it to penetrate for a few minutes and then use a clean, soft microfiber polishing cloth to remove any excess residue from the surface. With that said, we demonstrated how to apply for the owner and then turned him loose not only on the hood but also on all the plastic trim on this S.U.V.

        G10810 Gold Class Trim Detailer

Before it was dull and very flat gray and now it has a rich, dark sheen that compliments the rest of the paint and plastic trim.

Next up was his cloudy, hazy plastic headlamp lenses. Mike Stoops demonstrates how easy it is to use our new G1900 Headlight Restoration Kit

Here's Mike applying some PlastX to the special buffing pad already attached to a drill.

The rubber gasket surrounding the headlight was taped-off using 3M's new tape.

Now Mike goes to work buffing off the old, oxidized plastic to reveal a clear lens.

        Much better!

Well, as usual I had a great time!
There were some newbs to detailing that showed up and I know they had a great time also.
          Here's my pics.

We're training them young! This little cutie would not stop detailing her dads truck!
          She Clayed!
          She Waxed!
She Dressed the Trim AND the interior!
Then she wanted to do the rims!
She would go into the Consumer cabinet pick a product, run over to me and ask if she could use it! Too cute!

This was some composite that the previous owner tried to sand? Didn't know what to use on it but, Mike put Gold Class Trim Detailer and made it all shinny

Did all the plastic! Came out nice!

Mike teaching her how to fold a towel for use

She won't stop! She worked on this truck for 3 hours!

This poor guy lent his Challenger to his sister while on vacation, she parked it in a bush!

Scratches went all the way plastic and metal

Well there you go, hope you liked my pics and don't forget the next TNG, your all invited!

New to our forum, and to our Thursday Night classes was Bodie and his newly acquired Honda which was in excellent mechanical shape as the first owner was very meticulous as far as the mechanical maintenance goes, but for the outside of the car it was pretty much left to fend for itself and it didn't' do a very good job.

We spent about 15 minutes showing Bodie how to use our G110 with our new Ultimate Compound and then turned him loose and he was putting out professional results right from the get-go...

It was cloudy and overcast and temperatures were low so our wax was drying a little slow, if you look you can see http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...ead.php?t=2166 as we checked the status every 5 minutes or so till the wax coating swiped clear. Then we removed the wax to see the difference between before and after.

Look at the clarity and distinct reflection of the florescent bulbs on the driver's side as compared to the passenger's side.

            Good job Bodie!

Hey Mike, that Isuzu is called a VehiCROSS. It was kind of the first true crossover car on the road. Unfortunately it did poorly. I wouldn't mind having one down the road since it is such an unusual car and I think it's kinda cool looking too!

That was a great shot! Another one of Bob's tiny 60's Brit cars.

Robert's little girl really shows the scale of this mini Woody. And she really was a whirlwind helping her dad detail his truck. Dad had to slow her down from time to time. If I ever have kids, I want a two or three like her!

Very cool. I love what GC Trim Detailer does to faded and dull plastic pieces.

Re: Pictures from Thursday Night Open Garage - April 2nd, 2009

Next up, the owner of this Mazda decided to test out wet-sanding and found out what we post here on this forum all the time, that is wet-sanding is easy, wet-sanding is putting the scratches into the paint, the difficult or tricky part is getting them out of the paint. This is because factory baked-on clear coat paints tend to be on the hard side versus soft side.

When he found out he couldn't remove the sanding marks he took it to a "Professional Detailer", who also could not remove the sanding marks by machine.

We taped off a section on the trunk lid, (sorry the photo is fuzzy), and then applied Ultimate Compound 3 times and pulled out 99.9% of the sanding marks by hand. Then we taught the owner how to use the G110 and he finished removing the rest of the sanding marks from the rest of the trunk-lid.

Left hand side = Ultimate Compound by hand
Right hand side, #2000 Grit Sanding Marks

The above was done by hand but the owner wanted to learn how to use our G110 so we gave him a few lessons and then turned him loose!

He let his buddy wipe off the dried wax to reveal a better than new looking finish without the sanding marks.

                    Good job guys!

Mario does a little wet-sanding and then he compounds his sanding marks out using M105 with a wool pad on a rotary buffer.

                      Nice work Mario

SoCalNewb brought his car with the major scuff and paint transfer on the front passenger side bumper cover. We removed it using some M04 because it's chunky style diminishing abrasives work well for this type of issue and then went over it with SwirlX to maximize the clarity. Didn't get any after pictures but maybe someone else snapped a few?

Here's his original thread on this topic

Back to the Mazda, the headlights were starting to turn cloudy and hazy so the owner tried out PlastX with amazing results!

Next it was time to clean and condition the dash using the tips outlined here,

                          Bob's Vintage Mini Cooper

At the last Thursday Night Garage class Bob brought in his 1961 Bugeye Sprite to see if we could work some isolated scratches out of the middle of the hood. We removed the scratches and shared with him how to use our new Ultimate Compound with the G110 Dual Action Polisher.

Pictures from Thursday Night Open Garage - March 19th, 2009

These swirls and scratches were smack dab in the middle of the hood...

And now they're gone thanks to Meguiar's!

Bob then took what he learned and purchased some Ultimate Compound and proceeded to buff-out his Mini Cooper removing all the swirls and creating a liquid looking finish with a deep, wet shine.

These little cars have tiny motors...

To give you an idea as to how small they are, here's my hand on the valve cover followed by a Brinkman Swirlfinder light.

Thanks Bob for trusting in the Meguiar's name to take care of and showcase your cars.. Also thanks for bringing both your Bugeye Sprite and your Mini Cooper to Meguiar's Garage!
