So you answered your own question?
Or are you looking for another way besides wiping?

In Maryland the weather changed by the hour. I just wiped my truck with MF and reapplied UQD to it. Done.

              FWIW,

i would not feel comfortable wiping rain water off a car, even if it was not even driven in the rain but just sat out in the rain.

                  Oh, ok.
But are you looking for a different way besides wiping?

                    Re: Wiping Rain Water Off!

Found this on KOMO weather, Seattle. Personally, I would sheet the rain water off the car with a flow of water from the hose.

"Story Updated: Mar 13, 2008 at 1:13 PM PDT
                    By Steve Pool
SEATTLE - Ms. Sablan's kindergarten class at Seattle Hill Elementary wanted to know if rain has dirt in it.
Rain usually doesn't have dirt in it per se, but mainly will have tiny dust or pollen -- or even salt particles in it.

It's the dust particles that the water droplets stick to up in the clouds that create a raindrop. As the raindrop picks up more and more coatings of water from the surrounding water vapor, it'll be come larger and larger, until it's heavy enough to fall to the ground.

It's a good thing that we do have dust and other tiny particles in the air. If the air was super clean and didn't have any of those particles, it wouldn't be able to rain. "

                          Re: Wiping Rain Water Off!

I think that what they are saying is that every raindrop has some sorta very tiny/microscopic particle of something in it. Whether it be a dust, or pollen particle....I wouldn't want to take the chance of instilling any sorta micro-marring/swirls in my paint. It's black so EVERYTHING shows up....no matter how careful I am! It would also depend on what part of the country you live in I would think. We have pretty clean air here in Orygun. But I think LA rain or a heavy industrialized city would be a different story. A rinse with the hose only takes a couple minutes. JMHO anyway.
