  • Gold Class liquid or NXT liquid

    hey guys,

a couple of weeks ago i did a full detail on my truck which included wash, clay, Color X, No. 7, and NXT 2.0 Liquid. My truck usually gets that treatment every 2-3 months and has barely, if any, swirls at all. So when i wash it this Friday after school i want to wash it then if its alright go straight to putting another coat of wax on it for added protection in the winter months. Since my truck sees the 5 step paint care cycle every 2 months i dont think i really need to clean the paint for the second coat of wax. I am not sure if i should do a small amount of prep work for another coat of Tech Wax 2.0 so the wax adheres to the paint better

    Option 1:

    NXT Wash
N0. 20 Polymer sealant ( tiny bit of cleaning ability)
    NXT Tech Wax 2.0 Liquid

    Option 2:

    Nxt Wash
    GC liquid Wax
    NXT Liquid Wax 2.0

    Option 3:

    NXT wash
    NXT Tech wax 2.0

If you could help me choose what best suits me that would be great and i am sorry if i am just being too picky with it

    Thanks guys

Option 3 should be just fine.

I would go with Option 1, but this question is basically preference based. Do whatever you want, the results will be pretty similar.

It's only been a couple of weeks. Personally I'd go with option #3. You won't have any bonding issues. NXT itself has some mild cleaners, albeit milder than #20. I may be wrong, but I would guess that option #3 will get you through the rest of the winter. But if you have reasons to believe that it won't, then go with option #1. Then your bases are covered.

I would go with Opt 3 for winter. But did you ever try Gold Class on top of NXT very nice.
Question how ofter is too often for the 5 step. I do my cars once every 6 Mos. give or take. Otherwise I'm always washing and waxing.

Like i said in my pirst post, it has little to no swirls and it sees the 5 step paint care cycle evry 2-3 months. So i usually clean the paint every 2-3 months

i would think once or two times a month would be overkill but you never know because if you use your car a lot, do not park it in the garage, and it sits outside exposed to the elements a lot then you may need to practice the 5 step paint care cycle more often

Regardless of how recently the vehicle has gone through the full 5 Step process, wash it and evaluate the surface carefully.

If it's free of bonded contaminants or other defects you should be just fine going straight to a fresh coat of wax. Otherwise, address the defects as needed.

Keep in mind you can do the full 5 Step process today and tomorrow park downwind from someone spray painting a propane tank, building, etc and get overspray on your perfectly detailed vehicle. You wouldn't do a simple wash & wax then, would you? Conversely, if your wash/dry process has been meticulous and 6 months after the 5 Step you're still defect free, then there's not much point in doing a full machine polish.

Evaluate with your hands and eyes. Make you decision based on that.

I think part of your decision should be based on time and weather. Do you have enough time to do a big process in weather that will allow it this time of year? If so, then do what needs to be done. If not, then do what time and weather will allow.

for me the weather is not an issue, as i have a garage and it is heated.

                          Thanks again for everyone's feedback
