After learning the correct procedure for hand sanding with a sanding backing pad we moved onto using a DA Sander to Machine Sand. We keep the classes small so everyone gets time behind the tools...

After sanding, it's time to learn how to use the rotary buffer to remove the sanding marks, this includes proper technique for picking up a bead of product, buffing the product to remove the sanding marks and working clean by removing spent product off the surface and cleaning your pad in-between buffing out section.

In order to use our W5000 Double Sided Wool Pad you MUST use an adaptor... see the below link for more information,

Next we turn our forum members loose with the rotary buffer!

After the rotary buffer step we did a second step polishing process using the rotary buffer with our
W8207 Washable Foam Polishing Pad with some M82 Swirl Free Polish.

Next we used the G110 with a W9207 Washable Finishing Pad with M82 Swirl Free Polish to insure all swirls have been removed.

Looking clear and glossy after our last machine polishing step...

After polishing we used the G110 with a W9207 Washable Finishing Pad to apply a thin coating of NXT Tech Wax.

A few finishing touches like cleaning the glass...

    Taking some measurements...

    A few reflection shots...
Note the paint on the sign actually has some orange peel as the hood and trunk lid are completely orange peel-free...

Clear and reflective enough to use as a mirror...

Here are some before shots, note that wet-sanding is not normally used to remove swirls as this can be done with the G110 in most cases. These shots are mostly just to show everyone what the paint looked like before the class and then to show that our forum members sanded, buffed and polished the paint leaving a swirl-free finish even in direct sunlight.

    Before

    After
There's actually a light coat of dust from sitting outside all day Sunday in the desert and overnight on Sunday night and these shots were taken right before returning the car to the car rental business. Even with a light coating of dust you can still see a huge difference in appearance quality with no swirls.

Thank you to all the forum members for another fun Advanced Class at Meguiar's Garage!

Looks like a good time. Good idea on using a rental car for practice!

I have attended one of these sessions in the past and I must say it's a blast. It wasn't the advance session, but I learned so much and it really is amazaing when all of these products work together how good one's car looks. Thanks to everyone down there at Meguiars. P.S. The guy in the blue shirt and the glasses is a real jerk.

    Just kidding, he's a friend.

That looks really cool, fun and a great learning experience. I wish there were places like that near Wisconsin. Or even in the midwest.
