One problem I continuously run into is baked on brake dust. I have tried several products claiming to remove the most stubborn dust but none have worked! What works??

    thanks

Have you tried APC/APC+? Wheel Brightener?

      Re: brake dust

I'm with Yalerd. Try the least aggresive and move up. Take precaution on using the cleaners. Anyhow, I've found that WB is able to clean caked on dust brakes efficiantly.

You need to know one or the other about your wheels before you cause any harm...

        1) What are your wheels made out of?
        2) What are your wheels coated with?

It's one other the other of the two options above and that will guide you to picking a product thats safe and hopefully effective.

I use apc at a 10:1 dilution. Have not had any problems so far,

Just Armor All Wheel cleaner...or Meguiar's all wheel cleaner.

I used to think this stuff never worked but actually follow the directions. Spray on, wait 60 seconds, SCRUB OFF, don't hose off. Works on horrible wheels.

Ceramic brake pads work if you don't want dust.

Thanks for the advice. I have not tried APC--The wheels are actually plastic wheel covers as on Toyota Camrys. I attempted to remove the brake dust on an 04 Sonata also. What about claying??

For factory stock wheels and hub caps try Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner

If your wheel covers actually have a brownish film that has built up on them they try using a paint cleaner like either ScratchX or Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner to remove the film and then after you get them clean again maintain with the Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner so the film doesn't build up again.
