  • Orange Peel, how do you remove it?

Hello, I had my car for about 2years now and I bought it used. the first owner had the the passenger door repainted from a accident. when the sun hits that side of the car car, I can slightly see that there is orange peel and that there is more clear coat on that side of the paint. looking at the door compared to the front and rear quarter panels, the door has a slightly less darkend look.

can Wet sanding fix this.....what do I do? what shall the body shop do or can do?

      Nuclear-

I merged your two threads as you are better off with a single discussion on the single topic. Next time please do not post multiple threads for the same subject. It may be a little slow to get an answer at night, but come tomorrow I am sure you will have plenty of replies.

The orange peel can only be corrected by wetsanding, but you don't want to just jump right in and start that process without knowing how much clear you actually have to work with.

The color mismatch may be slightly corrected with the wetsanding, but the chances are very slim indeed. Most likely the color mismatch is simply due to that - a color mismatch in the color coat. If so, there really isn't any way to alter the color of what's already there.

I have to agree with Mike. While the coarseness of the orange peel may indeed cause a slight shift in the way the light reflects/refracts from the paint, wet sanding will not correct the tint/color mismatch.
