  • cure time?

New here, even though I've gathered a wealth of info here in the past.
I'm working on an old Harley I bought and got the paint where I want it
but not sure how long to wait to put the leather strap on that goes between the tanks. I think I've blown it there in the past!
    sorry! using #26

Do you mean how long should you wait before you let a leather strap rub against fresh paint?

no, the wax coat. The paint is at least 6 yrs old, just looks new now

Thanks for the clarification as on this forum we often talk about two different cure times, one for fresh paint and one for a coat of wax.

After you apply a coat of wax, you wait till it's completely dry and then you wipe it of. To tell if the coating of wax is completely dry we use the Swipe Test.

From our How To Articles forum,

        The Swipe Test

If you want to apply a second coat of wax after you have wiped off the first coat of wax their's two common ways of doing this, one is to apply it immediately or within 20-30 minutes. This is usually the case for people that can't wait to apply a second coat the next day or for example in the case of a mobile detailer because they won't be with the car the next day.

The other option is to wait for a window of time to pass to insure all of the protection ingredients left on the surface have enough time to fully set-up.

        From our Hot Topics forum...

How much time to wait before applying a second coat of wax?

Lots of common questions are answered in these three forums...
