  • Clear Coat Failure

Is there anything that can be done? Wetsand the clear coat off and then respray clear coat? Or just a total respray?

What causes clear coat failure, and is there any way to further protect against it spreading?

Once it starts it can't be stopped.
The best way to deal with it is by re-painting.

The only honest and viable way to fix clear coat failure is to completely repaint the affected panels or the entire car.

Near as I can tell from observation over time is that clear coat failure is caused by repeated exposure to the sun and lack of quality maintenance for the clear layer of paint and regular maintenance for the clear layer of paint.
